I have a son that age and wouldn’t allow it. Major issues with scantily dressed women, and also most gyms have tvs going where all kinds of stuff is on. My son has a hard enough time with shmiras einayim, why would I deliberately be michshol him? There are other ways to get exercise.

I can guarantee you that when the yeshiva suggested a gym would be beneficial for him they did not mean a mixed gym. I’d be very surprised if they did.

These days there are gym apps similar to Uber. Where personal trainers come down to your home. You need minimal equipment. Just a mat and some weights. Probably more expensive than a gym membership but it may be worthwhile to consider.

Coming from a non yeshivaish perspective, I think it’s fine. teenage boys are going to have zxual thoughts either way and exercising Is a healthy outlet for him.

We have this at home. It's pretty small and gets a lot of use.

There are also kickboxing exercise
videos online (male only) my teenager likes to do and it really gets him sweating.
Say no to mixed gyms.
