I love the thread "positive parenting" but hard as I try, I can't always get it right. For example, my almost 8 year old had a tooth ache and because of corona we didn't visit a dentist in a looong time, so I set him an appointment. I didn't realize that his appointment was ON HIS BIRTHDAY. I made him go anyway and he missed his own birthday. I promised to send him to school with treats for his friends on a different day.

Mistakes do happen. We need to recognize we were wrong, and learn from it. But we need to pick ourselves up and try again. Not sit in the guilt.

Life is a learning experience. As long as you are moving upwards and try to improve then you shouldn’t worry.
Celebrating another day should work too. Your son knows there was ( is) corona ...

One of the things I know I have to focus more on is helping kids deal with disappointment well. I always want to come in and fix everything and make it better. It isn't good. its coming from a good place but its too much.
To be able to manage and keep things together and be fine when things don't go the way you want is the greatest thing to impart to kids.
Those kind of learning experiences are the best.
