How do you dry a dress or top with a hood?

I hang to dry on a hanger and the hood doesn't dry properly because there isn't enough air and it then smells Sad

Any tips?

I put it on the drying rack so the hood hangs down.

Hang to dry and use a skirt hanger to separate the hood and keep it open to dry properly.

I have a fan blow at such clothes so it keeps the air circulating while it hangs to dry and then doesn’t smell...

I hang on a hanger with the hood facing the airy side. When the dress is dry, if I feel the hood isn't yet, I turn it inside out. Never had an issue.

A skirt hanger has clips, so you can put the dress up side down in the clips and then the hood will be fully open at the bottom.

Usually if it dries fast enough that doesn't happen. The hood will dry on one side and you turn t to the other side.
The problem you're describing happens when it takes longer to dry. When you hang up your laundry in your freezing damp basement and it's dry 3 days later.
Try taking it upstairs to a heated room where it will dry faster.
