Someone told me if theres 2 rooms, or one large room partitioned with a Mechitza, you can have 300 altogether, 150 in each room.

Is this true and accepted by all?

That's what I heard, but I don't know if it's true. Why not just call the hall you want to use and ask them?

Accepted by who? The state inspectors if they come?

I've declined invitations to such weddings since I don't want the risk, even if it is legal.

We had a regular wedding in Lakewood this week at the Fountain Ballroom.

The state website makes it look like the limit is 150 total, but maybe people are saying you can claim it’s two different gatherings/weddings if there are two different rooms? Either way, the limit is 150 OR 25% of capacity, whichever is less. I have no clue how big these halls are or if their normal capacity is at least 600 (which would let you have the full 150). Here’s the state website if you want to learn more:

ETA: it’s also possible that the city/town has more stringent requirements. I do not know offhand.

I believe it’s 150 in the hall total.

Here we go again. They played the same games in March and weddings had to get canceled for a while. Can they start playing by the rules for a change.

They have been counting the mechitza as a second room for a long time now. Just not this limit. But the other times there were stricter limits.
A mechitza and tobend of the room is being accepted by local govt authorities.
If someone from outside comes in I don’t know.
