I used to use a dentist for my children and stopped because of the flirting that went on between the dentist and his employee. It made me so uncomfortable and it was so akward. It did not cross my mind that they might be related.

Every work environment that involves both genders has potential for misunderstandings and misconceptions on everyone’s part. Sounds like OP is really professional in and out of the office. People are gonna think what they’re gonna think, but at the end of the day you have to know in your heart that you’re doing the right thing.

I was once told by someone that Mrs. A. And Mr. A who work at store ———and I responded “ they’re not a couple “ and she kept on insisting that she knows for sure they are....

I answered “ well don’t tell me what makes you so sure, since Mr. A is my husband”

It was too funny.

OP, I would take it as a compliment and move on. It just means that you have been working together a long time, and that your have a professional rapport that appears seamless.

We did a few visits to a specialist, and I was wondering the same thing - if the secretary and doctor were husband and wife. But I didn't ask! And I don't watch medical dramas.

not really, I’m in my 20’s, skinny blond sheitel, especially when I was pregnant no one guessed that I was actually “in charge” and a qualified professional. They just thought I was a clients wife or something.
(I tried dressing more conservatively less trendy, didn’t help. The worst part is it’s women who are usually the ones underestimating me!)
If you were REALLY distressed, you'd wear a short-short mouse brown sheitel.

People actually do sometimes talk about having a "work husband/wife" -- someone they have a particularly harmonious work relationship with.

If it never crossed your mind that your interactions were anything other than professional, I'd laugh it off and move on. Letting some random comment gum up a smoothly working office connection is silly.

The truth is I’m in a male dominated field and look like a trophy wife.

My then 6 year old niece asked the male school principal if he was married to her Morah. When he replied no, she asked "then why do you always talk to her so much?" Out of the mouth of babes...
