as per article in the BBC, pfizer/biotech has advised that people with allergies to medicine, food or vaccines should not get the pfizer covid19 vaccine for now.

Does this mean NY will allow medical exemptions for this population?

As of today, NY does not require anyone to get the covid vaccine. If and when it does, you can address this.

These fall under medical exemptions which I believe are still valid in NY. Only religious exemptions are not valid. I would assume that if England is warning people with allergies not to get the vaccine then NY wont force people with allergies to get it either. But cuomo can still dictate anything so only time will tell what happens.

Don't assume anything. NY doesn't grant medical exemptions very easily; even people who have had severe reactions to previous vaccines aren't granted exemptions. You have to be have been nearly dead (anaphylactic reaction) due to a vaccine in order to be eligible for a medical exemption to that specific vaccine. Allergies is NOT a valid reason for medical exemptions in NY.

Many people aren't aware of this and believe that if/when they will need a medical exemption, the possibility exists. Unfortunately, it's only those people who are in the minority that they or their kids didn't do well with vaccines who find out that the system will not work with or for them.

Royalblue, take a deep breath. If a post inflames you, just keep scrolling down without reading the post.

The reason for posting is because I know the situation to be generally like Tangerine explained, so was trying to find out what the situation would be in ny since its pfizer itself advising this

This is a short-sighted view. There is already a bill proposed to mandate covid vaccine in NY. It's best to fight it while we still stand a chance. Undoing the damage of a bad law is much harder than preventing its instatement in the first place. Knowing if there will be a broader medical exemption applied to this vaccine is part of the conversation that needs to take place PRIOR to the possible passing of this bill.

The Covid vaccine is not going to be mandatory for a while. They don't even have enough supply to cover the entire population.
By the time there will be enough supply let's hope the virus is gone and the vaccine wont be mandatory. or there will have been enough adverse reactions for it not to be mandatory. Or there will be a safer version produced.
No need to worry now.

Again, see my post above yours. Time to worry later doesn't mean we're not better off worrying now.

Can you cited the Bill? Cuomo already said that its not going to be mandatory, and while they're "weighing" a bill, none has been introduced.

Here is the bill, although note that it does have medical exemption-- https://www.nysenate.gov/legis.....11179

And I believe democrats have enough votes to override the governor should he veto it so no use fighting this or pretending that this wont be happening.

ETA: here is another bill to make the vaccine free of charge so even illegal aliens will not be exempt from getting the vaccine-- https://www.nysenate.gov/legis.....11175

The question is what the guidelines for a medical exemption will be because if it's the same as other vaccines, the only way to get an exemption would be to have an anaphylactic reaction to the first Covid dose.

If you live in the USA don't worry. It will take a few years to get the entire country vaccinated.

What she means is if you are a NYS resident please do your civil duty by opposing it. Do not allow it to become law. There are too many dangers in that. Let it be available by choice. Many people will take it. Then the cautious will see if it is okay to take. A few wont take it. But it still covers enough %. If in 1 day the UK pfizer announced that the allergic/ asthmatic should pass on the vaccine you can assume 2 hard facts. 1) it was more than a couple serious reactions they saw to people with those conditions. 2) let us not make more hoops and paperwork and government for people to jump through. It is very unpleasent and never simple. Lets have some faith in our regular citizen people. Stop giving up human rights to the government. They dont need to micromanage citizens. Citizens all have air pods, it is not a law, some dont, most do, it works. Laws are overreaching for this.

Actually not 100% correct. My son has severe food allergies. We asked about him taking the covid vaccine and we were told he just had to be monitored a little longer than regular people. He had both doses in the spring and is 100% fine. So I doubt that would be a valid excuse.

No it is better to prevent mandating vaccines in the first place.

Any exemptions put in to "sweeten" the poison, and get the bill passed,
will be taken away at a later date.

Senator Brad Holyman proposed a bill to mandate covid vaccine for school age kids. Its already in the works y'all... no religious exemption option and medical exemption is non existent. Give it, fight the proposal tooth and nail, or homeschool.

What is the source for this?
