Someone on a thread said this was her name. What does this come from? Is it pronounced like a ches or like a ch in english as in brunch?

It's pronounced with a ches. Not sure where it comes from, but it's a chassidish name.

It's my middle name and I spell it yud ches taf. That's also how it was spelled on the matzeiva of the person I was named after. I didn't see the other thread, not the same poster

It's not a specifically Chassidish name. It's an uncommon yiddish name. There happens to be a large family where this name is being passed down, and they are Chassidish.

It's a name in my dh's family. Many Yiddish names derive from Hebrew. The same way Hentcha derives from Chana but is considered a separate name. Mil was also told that Yechet originally derives from Yocheved. Girls named after that ancestor in the younger generations are named Yocheved in my in laws family.
