So my feet are cold at night a lot but my ds tells me halachically sleeping with socks isn’t allowed. Anyone heard of this or know why?

I sleep with socks on every night, never heard it wasn't allowed. Did you ask him why?

I know Rav Chaim Kanievsky holds not to sleep with shoes on...
I never heard about socks...
might not be great for fungus though, I think it's healthy for toes to air out...

Men are not supposed to keep their bodies too warm while sleeping.

BTW, how do you sleep with socks? Don't they disappear while you sleep?

There is a difference between keeping a male's body too hot that he may have a wet dream (that was what you were implying, right?) and being cold while one sleeps that they cant fall asleep so they need socks Smile

For men it's not allowed. Rather it's better not to wear to prevent wet dreams. This is what dh told me.

And if they get cold feet/toes during the night? Just have to suffer?

Can we kindly establish whether this is Halacha, chumrah, minhag, or superstition?

I'll ask my dh shortly he's out at the moment.
He likely won't know as I'm sure he was just taught that it's better not to wear.
