This isn't exactly the same so not sure it will help you, but posting in case it does.
My kids have dual citizenship and 2 passports. 2 years ago before we flew we realised 1 dd's Israeli passport was due to expire. We checked and were told as long as her other passport was in order it's fine. The way into Israel we had no issues at all. On the way out, border control made a fuss, telling us she couldn't fly. Even when we showed the other passport, they continued to insist she cant leave the country. Eventually a manager/higher up got involved and 'allowed' her to fly seeing as she did have another valid passport.
