I learnt that I love my kids. To the moon and back and back again.

I never cared much for babies/kids til my own were born

This. I’m not a baby person at all. But the second I gave birth to my first, I was starry eyed in love and obsessed. And still am 15 years later ❤️

That I'm not god.

That as badly as I want to protect and control, most things are out of my hands.

Humility.

This thread reminds me of a good one I just read today:
I’ve been a mother for 15 years and I still don’t know what exactly happens at the count of 3.

Similar to what I saw.
Being a parent taught me really high fractions. 1, 2, 2 1/2, 2 3/4, 2 7/8, 2 11/12, 2 15/16, 2 31/32, 2 63/64

That I don't have an instinct for kids, and am not great at managing all of their needs at once. I am particularly rotten when the needs contradict each other.

That you can plan and plan and a pesky pandemic or whatever can cancel necessary things and put your kids back years and years of work and then as the parent, you are expected to figure it out somehow.

That I am never off, and have to be the one to keep life going and have a non-scary expression and general demeanor. When planes hit buildings near where my loved ones are, I still have to smile when I serve lunch to toddlers and sing Uncle Moishy with them. My moods are no longer my own.

Love can get you thru many/most challenges.

How Hashem literally puts the right words in my mouth. I always thought I was in control...being a mother made me realize how little I am

That there are many things I'm good at but being a mother is not one of them.
Before I had kids, I thought it would be a piece of cake to raise them. I mean, every John and Jane Doe do it. Easy as riding a bicycle.
But then reality hit. I still haven't recovered and I don't manage. Being with the kids often feels like being locked in a cage with a bunch of over-excited monkeys!
I'm trying to learn to be more assertive and to say No! successfully. I have already improved a bit but still a long way to go.

That I’ll have stock in the band Aid company

That kids generally get sick the day you go on vacation or when you take them to a family party

That kids have a sensor which lets them know when you use the bathroom or make a phone call.

Babies wake up when you go to bed. Perfect for family planning or natural bc
