Title says it all. I’m a healthcare worker and got the covid vaccine at work. It’s been a few days since my first dose. Ask me anything!

No fever! Just a sore spot on my arm from where I got the shot. That lasted two days, nothing else!

Were you required to take it for work?

Do you think it will ever be mandatory?

Do you think it ever should be?

Have you already had covid? Would there have been any negative consequences to you in your employment if you had refused to take it?

Not required but I take care of covid patients and people suspected of covid, so I was eligible. I don’t think it will be mandatory at my hospital if enough employees get it to create herd immunity. But, most people want to get it. The vaccine slots filled up in 10 minutes (about 2500 spots).
Maybe it should be mandatory for participation in public things like school, college, events.

No I haven’t had covid BH. No negative consequences- it’s recommended but not required for now.

Yes, research I read shows that after a week or so of the first shot, your immunity is at 50%. So if I get exposed, 50% chance I’ll get symptoms. Obviously having 97% after the second dose is preferred!

Will you still need a mask and SD after the second dose when in public (not at work. Health care workers wore masks for other germs too)?

Maybe report back in 2 weeks, the flu shot side effects show up 2 weeks later not right away. I’m curious if side effects will appear then

I will continue to wear a mask and social distance because there isn’t data yet on whether or not you can carry it if you’re exposed and spread it to other people. I don’t want to be an unknown carrier and spread it. I think we will continue to wear masks at work for another year. We didn’t used to, only if we were in the operating room.

I’ve never had flu shot side effects show up two weeks later, but I can report back either way. Typically people are having reactions/symptoms immediately afterwards up to 3 days post vaccine and I am already past that window basically.

What made you choose the pfizer shot over the moderna shot? Why is one better than the other and if given a choice, which one should people choose?
