If your heat is in the wall (not central), what do you do when you have a curious crawling/walking toddler? She always wants to touch it... I feel like it's not safe for her to play on the floor because she'll end up at the heater at some point!

You can put a gate to block it off.
How hot is it? What would happen if she touched it?

We have the old fashioned boilers and I was never worried about a child burning himself. They feel it once and don't go there again.

I have central heating. None of my babies ever got a burn from touching it, it's not hot enough to give a burn.

We have radiators in our walls and they do get pretty hot. We blocked them with baby gates (like an open playpen) or furniture in the rooms where they have free range, and otherwise watch closely until they're old enough to understand to stay away.

We have radiators. My husband and son build wooden covers for all of them. It’s really not hard.

That’s how we discovered that my daughter learned how to crawl-
She still has a scar from the burn on her hand from touching a radiator. She’s 31.
My husband made covers for all the radiators that afternoon.
