A fork and a spoon?
My 16 month old son eats with his hands which is quite messy or if it’s soup I give it to him with a spoon.
How would you go on about it?
Mommies please share experiences, tips, and advice.
I may hold off a couple more weeks but my mom says he should start learning right now lol.

He can learn now for sure0. Too late for this one but you can just give any young baby a spoon to play with as they eat.gives them a chance to practice.

Whenever you want. No rules.
It’s actually great for toddlers to eat with their hands.

I like using these as they are small and easy for them to hold at that age:

I usually start between 15-18 months, although these say 18 months and up, which is probably the average age to start.
You may need to show them what to do with the fork (by picking up the food with it and giving it to them), or they may just try to copy if they see you eat with a fork.

I give preloaded spoons and forks to my babies when they start eating at 6 months, and it naturally leads to them learning to use the utensils on their own. My one year old is starting to seem interested in poking food with forks (ineffectively). My toddler is great at neatly using forks and spoons but still often eats with hands.
