Besides that its much healthier...

I didn't have potatoes,so I substituted rice.
I didn't have paprika,so I used another spice.
I didn't have tomato sauce,I used tomato paste;
A whole can, not a half can- I don't believe in waste.
Afriend gave me the recipe; she said you couldn't beat it.
there must be something wrong with her
I couldn't even eat it!

lucky, Very Happy Very Happy

My aunt once baked a cheesecake for her son in law, who she felt could use a diet. Instead of cream cheese she used cottage cheese, instead of sour cream she used non-fat yogurt. Instead of sugar she used Sweet & Low, instead of eggs she used egg whites. Her son in law said, "Shvigger, if you wanted to serve me cottage cheese, you could have just put it in a bowl. You didn't have to go to the trouble of baking it..." LOL

I substitute all the time.

On Shabbos I made the strawberry fields salad from the kbd.

No strawberries so I used pineapple
No almonds b/c no stove so I couldn't prepare them
No onions b/c couldn't be bothered cutting them
No sprouts b/c didn't buy them
No oil in dressing so I used pineapple juice.

And it came out very good... but it didn't really taste like the strawberry salad!!
