It just crossed my mind that I haven't even thought about thinking about Purim until today. Most years I actively have to tell myself all summer and fall to bookmark Purim thoughts until after Chanukah. This year I didn't even have the thoughts at all. Sad

Purim of 2020 was already totally in the COVID era for me. I was in quarantine by then and didn't leave the house at all. This year Purim will probably still be a little bit COVID-y, but hopefully mostly normal. Maybe we'll even be vaccinated by then, who knows.

Any good ideas of how to acknowledge what a wild year it's been and celebrate the good parts?
--Shalach manos packed as "vaccine" deliveries?
--Any idea for a zoom-themed dress up/MM?
--More ideas?

(And if anyone thinks it's a horrible idea to reference the pandemic or 2020 in their Purim costumes/MM, that's cool too! You do you. Cool And I'm not committed to the idea, but just want to see what clever ideas people can bounce back.)

IMNSHO, too soon. We're still going to be under serious restrictions and risks. We will almost certainly have passed 400,000 deaths, with thousands of people still dying daily.

It will also start the second cycle of chagim I'm celebrating under covid restrictions. I want NORMAL.

That’s not a costume. That is my regular daily attire.

Give out "food boxes" or "Shabbos boxes". Milk, apple juice, frozen pizza, whatever

Interesting.
I'm more of the "laugh with it" type of person to keep me sane.
Not that Corona is funny at all- it's not.
But in order to survive, I need to see the funny parts of it.
And Shabbos boxes, personalized masks and gloves, toilet paper, that kind of stuff makes me able to laugh and continue the next day.

If you were in quarantine last Purim then I can’t imagine you’re going to have a “regular” Purim. Those I know who plan to celebrate Purim like normal are the ones who caught covid last Purim.

I’m planning to do costumes this year, I buy my costumes a year in advance (I have no idea why but I’ve been doing that a few years now) and I will give some store bought items.

I don't think any of these is cute or funny. And unless you're only giving your super close friends and family, you're going to rub someone the wrong way. I would just do good food, maybe even Challah and wine for shabbos.
