A name similar to what the name Esther means, but for a boy. Can anyone help me think of some? From the Tanach.

Only one that occurs to me is tzefaniyah, but it's a bit unusual.
Would you want to use Mordechai or Daniel for the Esther connection?

Thanks for the suggestion. Looking for a name to represent the times we are in now, not davka for the Esther connection.

Betzalel is the shade of Hashem. Really the protection of Hashem, but there can be a bit of the "hidden in the shadows" double entendre.

Fischel!
Fish are hidden and that is why they are associated with bracha.
You could also use the name Efrayim - his bracha includes being many like the fish. (I think that's why you'll often hear the names paired "Efrayim Fischel").
Also you "nifreh k'dagim" which is the root of Efrayim.
Yosef - lived much of his life hidden, and similar to Esther, the events took a long time to unfold and reveal the bracha.
I'm sure there is much more to look into... just a few thoughts

Why would you want to give a child a name for a dark time?

It’s so funny. I see gd more then ever. No human could have created this, could have set this in motion. It’s so clear it’s all from Gd.

Yeshaya. I've heard two meanings given, both relevant:
"G-d will redeem"
"G-d will turn toward"

Love Yosef - also because he was called "Tzafnas Paneach", one who discovers the hidden because he interpreted the dreams.

I tried to think of make tanach/post tanach who had to conceal themselves.
I thought of Ehud. It's a big stretch, but he was pretty kick butt anyway

Yes, and not only that - the entire Yosef story is emblematic of G-d's hidden plans for the Jewish people and Yosef himself was aware of this, as he explicitly tells his brothers after Ya'acov's death (as we just read in last Shabbat's parsha)

Yoash, hidden by his aunt in the mikdash when his grandmother Athalia was slaughtering the entire royal family.
David, hiding from Shaul.
Moshe of course.
Eliyahu who hid out in Nachal Krit from Ach'av and Izevel.
Yonah, hiding out from Hashem in the ship
Post Tanach - R' Shimon bar Yochai in the cave

Does anyone remember a medrash about how Yosef stood tall in order to keep his mother out of Esav's sight?
He kept his mother hidden and as a reward he and his descendants are above ayin hara ("alei ayin").
(Is that where the term in Israel "ben porat Yosef" to mean bli ayin hara comes from?)

Raz (רז) is a word from the Tanach meaning secret. There’s also the name of the angel Raziel (רזיאל), secret of Hashem.
