Children's librarian here Hi

I highly recommend all the Mo Willems books, both picture books (Knuffle Bunny, Pigeon, Edwina, etc) and beginning-reader books (Elephant and Piggie, Unlimited Squirrels, etc).

For picture books:
Jon Agee (Life on Mars, The Wall in the Middle of the Book, etc)
Jory John (seconding tigerwife's vote!) - also love Penguin Problems
Kevin Henkes (Owen, Lily, Chester, etc)

For beginning readers:
Syd Hoff - Danny and the Dinosaur, Sammy, Horse, etc.
Cynthia Rylant - Henry and Mudge, Annie and Snowball (a little more complex)
Alyssa Satin Capucilli- Biscuit series (easier)
Shannon Hale - Princess in Black (these are cute - they're easy chapter books)

For reading out loud to them/early chapter books:
A lot of kids like the Magic Tree House series.
Definitely agree with the Beverly Cleary recommendation.
I would also say Andrew Clements depending how mature they are.
Lots more...Boxcar Children...Clementine series (Sara Pennypacker)...A to Z Mysteries (Ron Roy)...

There is so much more -- let me know specifics and I'm so happy to help!
(and if you're in Queens by any chance, PM me and I can help you out in the actual library)

Strongly agree! Except we found Syd Hoff kind of boring and redundant after not very long. Andrew Clements has some books geared younger so that can appeal across various ages.
Frog and Toad were good for 6-7 early readers.
I think A to Z mysteries are an easier read than Clementine and Magic Tree House, so for 7 year old I'd go there. Cam Jansen is on a similar level. For earlier readers (the 6) there is a "Young Cam Jansen" version.

Other books/series I remember my kids enjoying at that age were Flat Stanley and Arthur books (beyond the original ones - there are easy readers as well as chapter books)
Similar level/style to Henry and Mudge is Mr. Putter and Tabby (not sure if I'm getting that right. Old guy with a cat but very cute.)
Amelia Bedelia is classic as well as newer ones which I don't love but it's something to read, anyway.

And then I'm picturing a whole shelf series of our public library and completely forgetting what was on it. It'll come to me eventually, probably.

Hi, any suggestions for 2.5 year olds?

My toddler loves "Red House, Tree House, Little Bitty Brown Mouse" - there is a little mouse hidden on each page and a lot to look at and discuss. It's a great book for dialogic reading.

Some of my favorite toddler storytime books:
Bark, George
Where's Spot?
Dear Zoo
Every Color Soup
Freight Train
Very Hungry Caterpillar
Goodnight, Gorilla (Rathman)
Clip-Clop (Smee)
Five Little Monkeys (Christelow)
Where is the Green Sheep? (Fox) - this is a great one for colors, opposites and discussion

Kids like the Maisy books, but I'm not super into them.

This is just off the top of my head. If I'm on the right track I can give you more suggestions.
