Where would you recommend for friends who are trying to figure out where to live without much geographic limitation? Late 20s, no kids yet, married a few years

- Modern orthodox machmir in frumkeit but very non-label types
- Love the outdoors and nature nearby, have a dog, vegetarian
- Not materialistic, more OOT attitude
- Sweet and thoughtful, soft-spoken
- US only, preferably Eastern seaboard
- Somewhere comfortable enough for couples with or without kids

Look into San Jose, California. I know you said the East Coast, but I have friends that used to live there and it really sounds like a good fit

If they want beautiful nature around them, they can do so much better than the East coast. They should check out Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, and Portland OR. All are warm, OOT, non-judgmental, and non-materialistic communities where they will feel comfortable, and I remember a number of dogs in the Seattle frum community. San Jose is a very nice community, but extremely expensive.

I would say Berkeley, ca ( expensive), Denver ( moderate price), Sharon, Massachusetts, lakeview, Chicago, maybe silver spring or aspen hill in Maryland.

I also thought of Northern California. San Jose, Berkeley, and Oakland all seem like good fits.

The Boston suburbs (Newton or Sharon) could be good options, if cost isn't a factor.

Springfield NJ - within an hour of the Delaware Water Gap and lots of state parks. Less expensive and less materialistic than most of the NY area communities.
