Is there anything associated with covid that it can keep recurring but not in terms of major symptoms. Just in terms of getting post nasal drip, mouth feeling a bit funky, and feeling just a little off. No fever, no cough..I feel like something keeps coming back and that I'm contagious but tests come back negative. Is there anything I can do to help figure out what's going on?

Once you are mostly better and don’t have a fever you are no longer contagious. You don’t have to keep testing. I am still dealing with many post Covid complications and symptoms but I am walking around and going places .

Thank you very much for your responses. I just feel scared/scarred that I will infect people based on various experiences over past few months. My kids also have post nasal drip and they are also negative but it's lingering for a while this time. Im at the point where I feel like I need to go to an infectious disease doctor. Not sure what they'll find though. I'm pretty desperate though. I feel nervous to be with people outside my family unmasked etc. Meanwhile my pediatrician isn't concerned about the kids. But I have this gut feeling that I can't seem to get rid of. Any insights appreciated.

ask your dr and pediatrician
you aren't contagious!
felt the same and was reminded that people teachers etc who recovered were told by their drs. to go back to work and so on.
winter is full of colds, nasal drips etc, and whatever the origin you are not contagious with covid B"H

Thank you. I am having a difficult time accepting the reality that it's not covid related. It's like I know it's not covid but I feel like it spreads to others that may test positive for covid from being exposed to whatever respiratory symptoms I have. Not sure if that makes sense but I can't seem to move on after months and a couple of incidents that seem to substantiate my intuition Crying

OP, I know the feeling. I saw the CDC guidelines and thought that was ridiculous. I had a cough for a while, how did I know I wasn't shedding. I did start curbside pickup, then, after a few weeks I went into stores but with gum so I wouldn't cough and scare people.

If all the metrics say you're not contagious, you're not being irresponsible going out. Sanitize, wear a mask, SD and then if you are carrying the common cold and other normal stuff you'll be less likely to share it.

Op could this possibly be a form of OCD? If your doctor(s) have told you that it’s not contagious anymore and you can’t stop worrying about it it may be this.

I was thinking exactly this.

Yes definitely could be ocd Crying
I'm seeing a therapist and on zoloft for the first time in my life (for both)
I'm still having a hard time moving on.

This is something worth discussing in therapy.

Hugs OP. I know how difficult it is. Have you talked with your therapist about it? Or tried using skills you’ve learned when you have these thoughts?

Yes that's why I started therapy. To work through these issues. Still very difficult for me.

As a psychologist, I would treat this as psychological symptoms consistent with obsessions and compulsions in reaction to your illness. Intervention would be exposure and response prevention.

Edited to say I just read the previous responses😃. Spot on!

What do you mean about exposure and response prevention?

I'm just curious whether you had OCD (even if less pronounced) before you had COVID?

Have you tried to resolve the postnasal drip as its own issue in the meantime? I'm not sure about postnasal drips but I tend to get sinus issues when it's cold out so windows are closed and heaters are on. Do you think a humidifier would help? If multiple family members have it for a while it may be environmental?

It is possible that you have a coincidental case of the common cold.

Logically I know it's not covid. The post nasal drip is not something I usually get on its own without a cold so that was new for me. It's possible it's environment, I should really run humidifiers.
I don't think I had ocd, but probably obsessive thoughts. Confused This has really brought me over the edge though.

Covid can cause swelling and inflammation in the brain, which can cause OCD symptoms. This is similar to the way some kids develop pandas from strep or other infections. That could explain why the medication and therapy are not helping- you would need to treat the root cause by reducing inflammation in the brain. It may be worth seeing a pandas specialist.
