My young children, all below the age of 9 have covid. I am scared of long term effects though none have symptoms other than mini colds.
Has anyone done research yet on long term effects? Of heart, lungs or fertility?

Where are you in the world? The original COVID does not affect children like that at all. One of the new strains does but I don't think it's gotten around to the USA nearly as much as Israel.
Even in Israel it's hasn't gotten around too much yet.

I keep hearing there's no Corona in New York. So I didn't realize.

Please be on the lookout for MIS-C in the weeks after covid. Call your doctor to get signs to keep in mind. High fever, rash, can be very dangerous. Some kids are getting it even after being asymptomatic with covid

The very earliest cases, in China were about a year ago. We don't have data for long term effects on children. In about ten years we might have an idea of the effect (if any) on their fertility. So far there doesn't seem to be any data indicating lingering cardiovascular effects in children a few months after infection.

My kids had Covid. My 1 year old had it pretty badly but my 7 year old had a mild case. My son is still coughing (almost 3 months later) on exertion and has gotten sick 3 times in the month since he officially recovered so it definitely seems to have affected his immune system.

None of the children I know who have recovered have long term effects BH. Just stay vigilant in case their symptoms become concerning. Refuah shelaima!

Chronic, neurotropic infections and post viral syndromes are not unique to covid. If you are truly concerned, there are things you can do to support the immune system in eliminating the virus and take down the inflammation and cytokine storms which are usually what causes the long term effects
