I’m neutral chassidish and considering the large housing complex at the corner of union ans viola as it’s more affordable then other homes we are looking at in Monsey (lest I get attacked by the folks on the Monsey school thread, I grew up in Monsey and renting an apartment currently in Monsey.)my question is whether I would fit in. I went to bais Rochel Monsey and I drive and speak English as my primary language. I don’t want to be the modern one. Anyone here live there or know a lot about it ?

Driving and speaking English will always make you modern now in Monsey.

Out of all complexes, I know 4 ppl who bought there, 1 already living there, 3 eventually. All are satmar chassidish. No driving and Yiddish speaking.
But honestly I don't know the mix. There's tons of people living there.

I know someone that lives there. They're very nice but definitely Yiddish speaking. But that's just the one family that I know.
My parents had looked into buying there when it was being built but ultimately decided against it because of the way it's built giving it more of a city feel than Monsey.

There's a real mix living there now. I know families that send to Munkatch, Sanz, BDY, Bais Rochel..... a real mix of schools. I also know families from Brooklyn that bought there. There are still houses being built, you can't really know how it's going to turn out to be in the end. But it's affordable, and as people are buying, the price is slowly going up.
We looked into it for a long time and ultimately decided not to go for it.

My sister, (who actually lives nearby) said everyone uses her because she drives. So that can actually be something that could help you socially but obviously set boundaries.

What do you mean uses her? For what?
Many of my neighbors drive and no one uses anyone for anything.

When a friend calls you exclusively to go shopping together and nothing else.

When else should friends call you? Depends on the friend I guess.
