I am looking for a low-end interior designer in Brooklyn. Someone who can help me pick out new furniture for my dining room, and give me some tips on some other areas around my house.
any ideas?

I think what you mean to say is inexpensive, or not too expensive. Decorators vary widely by price (from $60 an hour to $300 for a consultation). Some charge an hourly rate, some have an initial consultation and then by the hour or project.
Why don't you say approximately how much you're willing to spend, and how many hours you'll need, and take it from there. I also think you mean interior decorator, not designer (in this particular case).

Have you seen Esther Berger’s work? How much does she charge?

Have you found someone?

The issue is that interior decorators generally can't make enough money if a job isn't big enough if their business model is the standard markup on their wholesale price.

There are designers who work by the hour - there are designers who do consultations on the internet and help with choices. Some of these have set price points depending on what kind of services you are looking for. These can be very helpful in terms of integrating existing furniture and steering you towards best selections. This is probably the kind of designer who would be willing to work with limited amounts of money.

You can also hire a designer by the hour to shop with you or to source stuff.

There are also designers who work in stores who help select furniture assuming one is buying enough furniture from a specific store. Years ago, that was how middle class ladies furnished their homes - W. J Sloanes had decorators on staff. But theoretically most large furniture stores have designers who are on staff to help with selection - however, their talents would be hit or miss and you are tied to whatever is sold in the store.

Hi. Can you say what she was like to work with? Does she have patience? I'm not a quick decision maker. Also wanted to know her style. Did she give you a few options?
