I never post but was incredibly moved by that story.

Wow I can't believe that! While I was reading the story I was just like wow wow wow wait, she did what? I was really impressed by the themes of mesiras nefesh, kibbud av, and dad Torah that ran through the story. Hashem should bentch you with all brachos!

The only details that were changed were identifying details like where I live and my career and our names.

There was one major change that I requested because I felt it would be a distraction. Now I’m not sure. In actuality, I’m not a BT. I’m a geyoris. My father was Jewish, and so is his sister in the story, but my mother is not and neither are my two sisters. In actuality there was no kibud av involved!

When he was nifter, my rabbi (the one in the story) told me I could chose whether or not to sit shiva, and for some reason I didn’t. I really regret that, and felt like I didn’t get a chance to heal properly, especially because nobody else was close to him, I feel like I miss him alone you know? But sharing the story was really helpful even though it’s been 6 years (his yartzheit was Monday), I feel more closure sharing part of his story.
