Every time my husband, toddler and I travel we end up with 3-4 different bags of toiletries. There's the basics, like toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, safety pins, nail clippers, shaver, scissors etc. Then there's my makeup, brush, hair accessories for my toddler, hair serum. Then, there's usually some intimate things like pads, tampons etc. Plus, my husband has his deodorant, cologne, and beard brush. I also stick my jewelry in the bag as well.

My question is, is there a magical solution to keep these thousand items organized in 1 or 2 bags? If so, I would LOVE if you could post links. Preferably they should be somewhat cute and not only functional (though functional comes first at this point). Thank you!!

I'd start off by looking for ways to eliminate bulk.

- Use mini bottles/sample sizes
- travel toothbrushes/folding brushes
- On tampons instead of tampons with long applicators
- share toiletries as much as possible (example: you can all use baby shampoo).
- Medications: transfer to pillbox instead of taking entire bulky bottles.

I keep a small container at home of all travel size toiletries because it's impossible to take them all if they're not miniature. [Even 2 year olds can use chewable tylenol/advil which takes up next to no space (not infants though).]
Whatever doesn't come in mini, gets transferred to mini bottles/spray bottles.

Then I place everything into a Ziploc bag (sometimes more than 1) to pack up.. Sometimes I use my actual travel bag that looks something like this.

Here are some more nice size options.

Wow these links are great! Do you have travel versions of everything? Like are there things that you transfer - makeup, meds etc - or do you have duplicates for "travel bag only"? I hate having to unpack and I often just don't...and then I'll be wondering where my eyeliner went!

Also, if you have a few kids, do you manage to fit everything in one bag or do you start dividing? We often travel to family for extended periods of time so that's why an actual bag is important, vs ziplocs, to keep everything neat in our new place.

I have a travel toilet bag with duplicates. Mini eye makeup remover and pads, toothbrushes, totthpaste, ear swabs ect.

Makes packing so much easier.

I have mini everything except makeup. But it sounds like it's worthwhile for you to have another set of makeup for traveling. If you're using drugstore items that aren't too expensive to have duplicates, it sounds like it would be quite helpful to have a travel bag of makeup ready to just grab.

At this point we can fill 2 travel bags but we used to use 1.

Save refillable little containers from here and there and make your own travel sizes. The Container Store has a refillable squeeze tube that is the maximum size allowed in carryons on airplanes, but if you're just going for a weekend or a YT you may not need anywhere near that much of most products. You can scrape off small quantities of blush and eye shadow into tiny tins or jar that formerly contained lip gloss or eye cream, or you can buy new containers. You can even use old contact lens cases if you don't wear lenses or if you use cases that are markedly different from the ones that hold your lenses.
