Now that we are half way thru the year, do you feel like the kids are mainly caught up from the shut down last year?
Do you find that the weaker kids are more behind than usual?
How is your ciriculum different this year?

Good question OP. I am really curious to hear the answers. From what I've read in the news, it seems grades K-2 or K-3 saw the biggest losses from shutdowns. But I'd love to hear the teachers' experiences.

My first grade son's principal said the boys are about four months behind. This was about four weeks ago.
I teach 4 grade. They kids are not So behind, but they are missing certain fundamentals that they didn't get up to (or "did" remotely), like fraction sense and better writing skills, organizing thoughts, etc.

I teach 5th grade so can't answer for the younger grades but I do find my students to be behind and also to have a fragmented understanding of various concepts. Presumably because they were taught over Zoom and sometimes they were focused and sometimes not.

I think many kids are still behind.
I do resource room / intervention for kids of all ages
