Of course it depends on many factors.

Just curious if about $400 a month is way out of range.
About 2600 sq ft ranch style house. well sealed windows. I keep the thermostat between 69-72 depending how windy it is.

ETA it’s baseboard gas heating if that makes a difference.

Same size home and ours is never over 200. We do have solar panels on our roof, and spray foamed our ceiling through the empower program.

Our ranch is about 900sqf less and we pay between 150-200 on these dead of winter months. We have basically no insulation in our ceiling but I have no incentive to get since it doesn't really seem to lower bills much anyhow.

Also is yours a ranch? If not it's comparing apples to oranges.

I've paid way more than $400 in these cold winter months.
I live in a split level in Monsey.
I don't consider $400 a lot at all for gas/electricity.

I don't pay anything.
Live in a small (most would say tiny) apartment in Brooklyn. Landlord pays heating.

For gas I do level payments. So I pay the same amount all year round. This way I am not hit with high bills in the winter.

We have a 3600 sq. ft home in Monsey. We pay $650.00 per month. It hurts. Temp. set at a steady 69 degrees.

Your heating works with the solar panels?
