Can I substitute brown sugar for maple syrup in a dry rub for meat- asado?
My eating plan allows 100% maple syrup not brown sugar
TIA!

Can you use coconut sugar instead? I think ideally its best to sub dry ingredients for other dry ingredients.

Totally. Brown sugar is just white sugar+molasses. Molasses can be substituted with maple syrup. And the white sugar can just get left out
And now you’re left with maple syrup!

On a steak rub, it's all going under fire anyway. And the sticky sweet of the maple syrup would probably be pretty good I use silan for the same purpose.

I recently have been making my meat with sweet red wine. That’s it. (And some salt). Making it less sweet and trimming the fat will lower the calories more. Substituting another sugar only really adds a couple nutrients.

Why not find a recipe without sweetener at all? It’s meat! There are tons of savory dry rub recipes you can use an save the sugar for the cake
