During shiva, if the clothing that you tore kriah with, gets too dirty to wear, you can wash it, but have to throw it onto floor before wearing it, it shouldn't be considered clean. If you change into any other clothes, you'll have to tear kriah.
A jacket or sweater is ok, no tearing it, but keep sweater open at kriah place.

Like everyone else had said, the nails and the shower.
Buy comfort foods like chocolates etc.
Stock up on groceries, arrangements for kids, laundry etc, if you are even up to it. (I wasn't really).
Read up on the halachos for before the passing, and for when an onen and aveil.

My sisters in law were told they can change their shells. Also they were told to wear a shirt that they were gonna get rid of anyway. Side note, I was supposed to go to mikvah during shiva and ended up going the morning they got up.

Though someone could buy it for the avel, if the avel's comfortable asking.

My husbands friend did this. He asked if theres any food he likes, my husband said chocolate. And he came back with a few nice bars.
