I’m looking for empathy from those who understand why this is not a pleasant experience for me. I was not ready to trust an mRNA vaccine to first do no harm. I’m also looking to educate people, even though seminaries do require a consent form, getting around it is possible. I would be comforted to prevent this from happening to someone else.

She's an adult.

Adults should pay 26k for seminary. As an adult, is she going to pay me back?

That was your choice. Legally she is an adult and doesn’t need your consent.

ETA: I just reread your op and realized you are looking for empathy. I completely understand why it would be upsetting to you if your against the vaccine. The reality is though at this point it’s her choice to make.

You're right; adults should pay for themselves.

And people living in dormitory schools should vaccinate.

Thank you, I have a very good understanding of the law, right and wrong, and loving and caring for a daughter. Any mother that wants what’s best for their daughter would understand that. So maybe I can hear from one of those.

By the way, do you have older children? If one of them ever did something like this, and your view is that they are an adult, perhaps I can pay you to teach me how not to feel.

I'm so sorry OP. You have my full. Empathy and a genuine hug. Don't expect support from this site. Ppl here think it's the best thing since sliced bread. If possible I would encourage her to at least not take the second dose.

True, when a vaccine is tested and an option before moving into the dorm. Here it was not required, but the parent consent form was.

Oh my god what’s wrong with people. OP literally said she’s looking for empathy. If you can’t look past your own opinion to offer that then go post on a different thread.
I’m sorry OP, it must be so hard to see your daughter do something you aren’t sure is best for her. I hope only good comes from it!

Are you upset at your daughter or at the seminary? Are you worried about her or feel hurt that she has different views than you have? How does she feel about it?

I'm so sorry OP. My daughter is in seminary right now, and I specifically told her I wasn't signing the consent form. Had she gone behind my back, I would be absolutely fumimg at her. I am so so uncomfortable with healthy teens getting the covid vaccine. We just don't know enough to make our young generation be the guinea pigs.
Sending you a big sympathetic hug 🤗.

Sorry that you had this experience. Your non-consent should be enough! It was wrong for the seminary to allow girls to get vaccinated behind their parents back esp because they had requested consent before going ahead and vaccinating the girls. Your daughter likely was not given the full information regarding the vaccine to make an adult and informed decision if this is right for her, as nobody is given that information for any vaccine - they are just expected to know it.
This must be very uncomfortable situation.
Hoping for positive outcomes in every way with this! This madness needs to end now

im not getting vaccinated and am against most vaccines tbh but these girls are legal adults, and many of these girls will be married next year. theyre able to do their own research and make their own informed decisions...

Did they really make their own decisions, or did the principal tell them they had to take the vaccine?

Parents given a waiver to sign in order for their kids to get the vaccine and sem giving it to them anyways is wrong.

It’s not really a choice. There is a lot of pressure and seminaries and yeshivas all over Israel are pretty much saying take the shot or go home, don’t come back after pesach and so on. It’s not your daughters fault. I wouldn’t be mad at her. It’s a sad situation that our medical freedoms are being taken away from us.

Not to derail this but it's easy to say and hard to do. When the dr told me he's inducing me with my first, did I have a choice? He didn't give me any info. He didn't explain. He just informed me. I trusted him.

In hindsight and years later I'm very upset at myself for not knowing better, but how was I supposed to know? No one told me I'm supposed to research. I didn't even know I had that option to refuse an induction.

Medical advocacy is not a skill that's taught. Don't even get me started on my search for a diagnosis for myself and how gaslit I was.

It's inaccurate and naive to say "well you're an adult you should know better" that's simply not how the medical system is built. How many parents say they wish they hadn't given their babies shots?

Also, make "informed decisions"? Bring one to a doctor, any doctor in any field (and I have seen top top specialists so don't tell me to find a new doctor) and see how fast he will laugh at you. There's literally an article published today and the headline is, don't do your own research when it comes to science. They don't want you to.

I'm sorry that your daughter went behind your back.

The thing is, if she's over 18, she has the right to make her own medical choices. She's miles away from home, and that means trusting her to make good decisions. Having covid run through a dorm is no fun. Some seminaries and yeshivas have had this, and it's lucky that no one has gotten seriously ill. Statistically, it's likely that someone would. Imagine the horror of having a young person in the ICU with parents unable to be there.

Also, with the vaccination certificate now available in Israel, the unvaccinated will face certain restrictions. Your daughter may not be willing to be stuck in a dorm while her friends are all on a shabbaton together.

The issue here is your communication with your daughter, not the vaccine itself.

going home now is not so simple either... I think there is more pressure, because the girls want to get the 'green card' so they can enjoy shopping and doing fun things now
