💯 not the point! Bc I said I’m trying to budget I am trying to see where perhaps I am overspending or just not realizing what’s not necessary. Maybe I have unlimited funds. I didn’t say I get a big /small dollar value. I’m not asking what can I spend on bc I have unlimited 💸

What are you purchasing for yourself weekly - and perhaps you can get some input into whether or not its necessary.

Not judging, but those who spend on themselves regularly- what are you buying and how often? Is it for special occasions or just to keep you going?

Disclaimer: I work full time out of the house in an environment where I interact with a lot of people. Therefore, some of my spending is more than that of a SAHM.

I have a beauty subscription, that's my big monthly splurge. I update my wardrobe each season. I buy a new sheitel on average once a year. I occasionally buy lunch. I sometimes take Uber instead of public transport or walking.

But like I mentioned on my earlier response, my budget allows for these things comfortably. So sometimes I'll spend even if it's not 100% necessary, but just because I like something. Retail therapy works just fine for me Wink

Nothing. If you consider clothing, I recently had a simcha and purchased 3 dresses. I spend under $150 in total for all 3. No alterations needed. Will wear them on Pesach. Dh was thrilled, because I never spend anything on myself. I need to work on it.

Dh and I work fulltime. I buy dinner about 3 times a month. I dont have cleaning help. Ill treat myself to a coffee once a month or so.

When my kids have dr appointments I try to make it during lunch. I will then buy lunch for myself and DC.

I get a manicure on average twice a year.

I have access to my money as well as dhs. Finances are tight. I would love to buy myself earrings. I was going to purchase it with my vacation cash out at the end of the year, but we needed some home repairs.

Yep! That’s what I’m talking about ...

Disclaimer : I currently don’t work, but between cosmetic, manicure, wardrobe , accessories and small gadgets it all adds up ...sometimes I think I spend way too much bc I feel I overspend but looking back I use all the products- I do purchase very often.

Just to share something different:
I spend $150 a week on therapy plus usually a treat for myself afterwards like an iced coffee or ice cream. So add $10
I'll also spend about $15-$30 per week on lunch/breakfast near my office.
A manicure every week or two $15

I wash my own wigs but clothing and alterations probably average to about $200 a month so say $50 per week?

Total is around $250 per week I guess?

This is included in our budget as misc expenses after money is set aside for savings, rent, groceries and other needs.

I go out for lunch about once a week so that’s $20.
I’m doing Electrolysis now - $30 a month
The rest I spend as I need:
Clothes I probably spend $1,000 a year. Makeup about $300, wash and sets about $600 a year
Underwear, tights about $200.

I don't understand your goal here. Everything is dependent on the family income. Someone can be spending $500 a week and has a $500,000 annual income, and another can be spending $500 a weak and have a $50,000 income. How can you extrapolate anything without a full picture?

Is this a thread to make you feel good about inappropriate spending habits? Let's say you're spending $500 a week and you're being called out for it, will it make any difference to your situation if a millionaire is spending $500 on herself?

I think I spend more now as a SAHM because I have so much time to shop.

Why not? I know so many people living like this and it's much easier. Literally the best thing and you can save from week to week or readdress if problematic but it's so practical. I think it depends on the person.

If you can’t afford it you need to cut back no matter if other women spend more or less.

To each their own but I don’t like that dynamic, it makes the wife child-like.

This. Makes one out to be a child, rather than an equal partner.
