Achashveirosh loved Esther, though, and at the end, he knew she was Jewish. She was still married to him, but he probably allowed her to be openly frum (for lack of a better word).

Yes, maybe she was able to be Jewish openly but I wanted to bring out that she ended up living her whole rest of her life alone in the palace.
