Perhaps both, perhaps neither. Perhaps what happens is good for klal Yisrael but bad for an individual. We just don't know, and ultimately, it doesn't matter. We have to be thankful for the good in our lives and strive to improve.

We have a very limited view of understanding in our limited human life. We don't see the bigger picture. But everything is part of a bigger plan and ultimately it's for the good
