DD is just 9 but really can use a bra already. I feel like she’s too young, but her clothing really doesn’t fit normally. Any ideas?!

I guess I will have to get her one now. I just assumed that most girls start wearing a sports bra at age 10/11, and she’ll feel very different.

Does she really need a sports bra?
If she just started developing, a simple soft cotton bra might be fine.

I have the same thing with my 9 yr old daughter. She's so young.
And so immature.
She already got her period and really needs a bra

She's young but it's not unheard of. I developed at that age, too.
Depending on how large she is, there's undershirts that have extra coverage on top that are less conspicuous, but if she needs more there are light starter bras. Sports bras are not the best thing to begin with, they're large and tight.

This is my first girl so I’m a bit clueless. I don’t want her to be embarrassed in camp if she is the only kid her age wearing a bra. Is it very unusual for a third grade kid to wear a bra?

When 9.5 dd tried on her dress for her sisters wedding, it was clear she needed something. So we went to walmart and bought her cotton bras similar to the one posted above.
The funny part was her older sisters who saw the picture I sent on the family whatsApp each called me to gently tell me that little dd needed a bra. I think they thought I was in denial that my baby is growing up. (I already had the period talk with her too).

Any recommendations for light starter bras?

Yes, there are kids that age who wear training bras.
It will be more embarrassing for her to obviously need a bra and not be wearing one yet. I remember girls like that when I was growing up, and I felt bad for them (they had oblivious mothers, I guess).

There are meds to put puberty on hold. Talk to a good pediatric endocrinologist. 9 is really young

Why is early puberty a problem, though? (Besides for her being uncomfortable in a bra) I wouldn’t want to give her medication unless it’s really warranted.

Some have really horrible, possibly permanent, side effects. I am far from anti-meds but STAY AWAY FROM LUPRON.

Because 9 years old is way too young to be dealing with a period and getting an adult body. 9 years old is still a little kid.

The height could be a concern. Worth a talk with a doc.
