Is it out of fashion? What would you wear with a black velvet dress for a wedding?

In my opinion, they are very aged looking and make a person look far older than they are. I think they're also outdated and just not the most flattering, perhaps try regular opaque black tights? I think regular stockings in the winter look better than sheer black even.
I would wear regular opaque black tights with a velvet dress.

To me sheer black stockings are Dressy, super clsssic (and yet sxy too) I only wear Black opaque every day (not on shabbos)

Currently out of fashion in the frum world. But wouldn't be surprised if they make a comeback in the next couple of years. Just read a fashion article today in the NYT about how pantyhose in general is expected to come back in style soon.

I agree! I’m already seeing colors ones with same colored skirts on the very trendy.
