I'm starting a painting class for girls on Sunday.
Each class would take an hour.
How much can I charge per girl for a 12-14 year old group?
And how much for a 9- 11 year old group?

Thanks a lot!

Depends on many factors.
Are you providing the materials?
How experienced are you?
What is the going rate in your neighborhood?
How many students can you accommodate?

Thanks for your time!

Yes, I am providing the supplies.
I have experience.
I am new to Lakewood so don't know the going rates here.
It'll be a group of approximately 8 girls per group.

I really wanted to charge more than double TMI like $40 per session. Is it overpriced?
I was hired in a talent school to give the courses a while back, so I just got a wage and am not familiar with the prices..
but I wouldn't do it for less than $30 per lesson. Maybe I should consider high school girls so I can charge more?
I preferred teaching younger girls because that's what I did in the past.

I would think you should charge same range as Sunday clubs... I don't know for sure, but likely around 20/lesson. (+ Supplies)

Is there something special about your class that you think people would want to pay more for?

Thanks for the info about Sunday Clubs pricing!

I appreciate you asking, I think my class is special, because it's not a regular painting class. But rather wall decor. The finished product is a modern art with paint and glitter. Paintings like the one I'm teaching sell for a few hundred dollars in stores.

As an art teacher, I can tell you that not all art class are equal.
For painting, you may need to stay longer to clean up, unless you incorporate cleanup in the lesson. There is also setup. Regular drawing classes are not as time consuming.

I would work backwards. If you know you want to make let's say $100 an hour, and you have 8 girls, you should charge in the range of 12.5 per class. If you want to make 200, charge $25.
Ultimately, you set your own prices and if you are good, people will pay.
Personally, I charge between 18-20 dollars per class, and my classes are virtual. So I'm not dealing with messes.
But even when they were live, I found that I would still get clients if I charged more. I may get less kids, but it would often be worth it.
Important: make sure you have them pay in sessions, not per class. If they dont show up, it's their loss, not yours.

This does seem like a lot. But if you can get it, good for you. At that rate, it may be worth it even if you only get 3-4 girls.

You can always try, and if you dont manage to put a class together, you can lower your price...

Very true! I'd rather ask for more and have a smaller group.
And maybe I will need to lower the price at the beginning until I get picked up in the neighborhood.

Missing info: How many classes does it take to complete the painting?
I think people are willing to pay more per session for a short-term experience than for a long-term commitment. I don't know anyone average who could afford $40 per session for something that's going to be weekly for a whole semester. But I do know people who would pay that once for an experience.

Each course would be 3 sessions.

No op. $40 is way too much. I go to art- a 2.5 hour class- by a very experienced art teacher and she charges just $21 a session.

$21 for 2.5 hours?! Count me in! Where is this?

You can't expect all art classes to be cheap. Is this a huge class? Zoom?

It was for my 7th grade daughter. There were 6 or 8 girls in the class. They did a few paintings.

My 2nd grader took art lessons (drawing not painting) from succos to chanuka Sunday mornings. I think it was $120 for 8 classes but included special drawing book, special pencils, eraser, pastels
