Thanks!

My ds 11 (also adhd) literally got addicted to a shooting game - call of duty during the quarantine last year when there was hardly any school. I thought it was good he was playing with friends but I realized it was highly addictive and we ended up stopping cold turkey. I don’t know what to tell you. It’s hard raising boys with adhd. I feel you

You can play with one DM and one “player”, though it’s not as common as groups of 3-5 people.

So far, it seems all PC games have endless ads or they nickel-and-dime you with loot boxes and “optional” upgrades that slowly bloat the game.
I miss the days when I was a kid and you bought a CD of a game and whatever was on the CD was what you got. Nothing was “locked” away until you paid extra for it, and there were no external ads... (I’m talking about Oregon Trail or Detective Barbie or Zoombinis or Carmen Sandiego... I never played actual video games, not even Super Mario...)
I dunno, I’ve never played things like Legend of Zelda or Kingdom Hearts or Portal, but are those more in the realm of what I’d be looking for? I know just enough to know that I know nothing about video games... |
I grew up playing Nintendo. The games we had were not gory, more like “Cartoon violence”, so no blood. We loved Pokémon, Mario, and definitely Zelda (that was our fave). They are immersive RPGs (role playing games) so wasting lots of time is an issue but they also have lots of problem solving and logical puzzles. None of us are particularly violent lol, in fact I feel faint at the sight of blood.
