I'd be nervous there was a small defect from the overstock one.

The Mont Blanc website offer free engraving. Get it from there and put his initials on it

Buy from Nordstrom or wherever using a cash back site and you'll get back the $150 through there. Pm me if you want a referral link that gives you an extra $10 or so (depends on the site). Topcashback, Rakuten, Mr rebates see which gives the most back. They're all legit, I've earned a few thousand total over the years

Chase Sappire Reserve card has purchase and return protection. Use that card if you have it. I recently bought a dress online from Saks not realizing it was Final Sale. It is too big. I had to download some paperwork and receipts for Chase but after I send back the dress to them I should be getting my money back.
