My doctor told me steps, lunges, and squats aren’t good for my knee. If those aren’t, what do you think about a stationary bike and jump rope? TIA

Definitely not jump rope!
I have osteoarthritis in my knee.
My PT told me that just walking is great.
Also stationary bike, elliptical, and lots of strengthening exercises for all the muscles around your knee. Go for a few sessions of PT.

Do you think this made it worse?

For what I have, he told me it’s not good to do those exercises. There is a procedure to fix whatever is wrong, but it will take awhile.

I have a recumbent stationary bike which is great.

There are many videos on You Tube with knee exercises which are helpful (and would be more helpful if I actually did them on a regular basis).

Regular walking also works.

I need total knee replacement, both knees.
So it didn’t make it any better
I tried 1 month 3x a week
But I won’t lie it was really tough

I busted my knee a few years ago. I can't do any of the exercises you mentioned you can't, but I also can't do biking of any kind. I'm at risk of needing a knee replacement if I'm not careful.

I do yoga, walk, and swim. Yoga has definitely made the pain more manageable and I haven't had any major flare ups since I started.
