I second, third and fourth Dr Widman. He treated all my girls. He works with someone in the hospital for bracing.
are you talking about Andy Tzei for bracing? Not sure I am spelling it right but he was So special. He is not Jewish but was so sensitive to a young Jewish awkward 11-year-old that I was. He was so understanding and made me feel so comfortable. Besides for the fact that he is a real expert. Besides for the fact that he is a real expert.Back in the day he actually came to our house and I remember once going to his own house For an adjustment but now I heard he is in such high demand that it’s hard to even get to him

I have scoliosis, I wore a brace for a few years, I’m now 30.
I saw dr vasantha Murthy at scoliosis associates in manhattan. This practice is one of the top in the field for scoliosis. Best of luck !

I used Dr. Lawrence Lenke in Columbia.
I didn’t use him for scoliosis but I do know he specializes in it.
A top orthopedist from HSS recommended him for his niece.
There is another doctor there that learned under him that is tops also. I can’t remember his name but Echo would know who it is.

Dr. Murthy has the nastiest attitude I've ever seen in a doctor.

So funny you said that about Dr Murphy... I never really liked her either. Dr Lerner was very nice, he was part of the practice as well. Whatever you do go for a second opinion so you don’t second guess yourself one day that you did the wrong treatment approach. Hatzlacha!!

My daughter did not have a good experience with Dr. Murthy (that was about 19 years ago). We ended up using Dr. Daniel Green from Hospital for Special Surgery .2126061631. He was excellent. I've also heard good things about Dr. Roye at Columbia. It's very important to have the best person fit/make the brace. At that time Dr. Green used Mario (I'm assuming he retired by now). Under Dr. Green's care her curve did not progress, and we were lucky enough not to need surgery. Be very supportive of your child, but make sure they wear the brace as prescribed. It was a difficult road, but I am so grateful she came through it. The day she got her brace off was one of the happiest days of her life.

Dd was just diagnosed with scoliosis. Can anyone recommend a specialist, place they got a brace from, or anything else that you have had a positive experience with? Would love to use someone that comes recommended and don’t know anyone dealing with this irl. Thank you!

You can pm me for information about a new type of surgery that is now available that is less invasive and maintains the flexibility of the back. It is very successful.

Anyone heard of Dr. V. Sarwahi?

I'm scheduled for a consult with my 15 year old son to determine
how bad his curvature is

Should I see someone else?

I was diagnosed with a 55 degree curve when I was 15 years old, it was in israel 20 years ago, I went to a private doctor don't remember his name he recommended a brace I had the brace for about a year until I stopped growing, the brace caused my curve to turn into 2 25 degree curves so instead of the letter C my spine now looks like a letter S, it was very hard to carry the brace but I am satisfied with the outcome, when you see me now you won't be able to tell that I have scoliosis, I had no issues during pregnancy, I had 5 pregnancies so far and 6 babies, yes I carried twins full term! and their combined weight was almost 12 lbs and my back didn't complain..... so I think it's a success especially with such a big curve, initially the doctor said that the cutoff for surgery is 50 degree but he still wants to try and do the brace since surgery is very risky.
Now in every day life I don't even remember what my back looks like except when I get an epidural during birth and the anesthesiologist is freaking out and calling everyone to see my spine..... LOL

Any experience with Dr. Cunningham at HSS. My almost 15 year old just got diagnosed and that's who they have me an appointment with I'm wondering if I need to call back and change it to a dissent Dr. My pediatrician said any of the team at HSS was fine to go with. Any comments?

HSS is a top group so you are likely in great hands. I am not familiar with this doctor but if you do decide to switch I would go with dr widmann.I believe he is head of the whole pediatric department now at HSS. Several family members/friends used him for bracing and/or surgery and all were so happy. He’s a serious kind of guy but his skill is top
