Two of my boys (11 yrs and 13 yrs) share a room.
They have a large closet that currently just has one high shelf running across, and below that a hanging rod. It is quite deep and around 6 feet long.
I stuck a chest of drawers in there in the interim, but I'm desperate to get them organized properly and install a proper system

They have all the obvious needs (underwear, socks, pants, shirts, suits, shoes etc.), and I'd also like to make this closet usable for any items they store upstairs (eg art set for the artist among them, camera, sefarim from bar mitzvah, random items they win in raffles etc.

Anyone have a pair of teen / tween boys with a successful closet system? How much space would you allot for each category etc.?

Organization is not my forte, and I'm determined to give them everything they need to really stay neat and on top of their belongings.

Please help! I will be so very grateful!

Would you do something like this in the closet?

Ikea drawers from the floor halfway up. A set for each boy. And hanging shirts and pants from the rod above the drawers.

The one thing I can suggest is different colour hangers for each boy. Makes things much easier to sort/find.

Oh interesting, perhaps I could pull this off without getting a closet guy in... since I already have the horizontal bar.

So I took a look at the Alex. It is good for underwear, socks, ties etc., but since my boys are quite big that still leaves me with hoodies, folded uniorm pants, pajamas etc, that really need a larger shelf or drawer. Anyone have any other ideas or Ikea hacks?

Also, I if you have two tween or teen boys sharing a closet, how do you divide it up?
I know this may sound silly, but as I said I'm organizationally challenged, and I'm trying to set it up really well.
Like how many shelves / drawers etc is sufficient?
How do you hang their dress pants so that they look nice and don't crease...
down to which hangers do you use ?

Thanks!

How wide is the opening of the closet so we have an idea about which drawer system would work?

Thanks!
The closet is 2 feet deep, around 90 inches high and 7 feet wide.
And the door opening is 6 feet wide and 81" height. Two large 3 foot doors that swing open (as opposed to sliding doors)

Right now all it has is a bar running across for hanging and an shelf above that which is kind of hard to reach so not good for daily use.
I can pull everything out if necessary.

2 of these side by side with possibility for narrow shelves in between

There might be enough room for 2 of these side by side

Hanger recommendation: thin velour, something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075.....psc=1

They don't take up a lot of space. I hang DH's pants on them and they don't crease.

Also, if you use the Alex drawers than you definitely have room for shelves to go alongside them for sweatshirts and pjs. Uniform pants can be hung up.
