Hi! I’m looking to stain red oak. I prefer the lighter the better (wish it was white oak but oh well) and preferably no grey undertones. Anyone have any stain color recommendations? Can be a mix of a few stain colors...

Look at fir and pine colors. They are lighter, and have a warm hue. Stay away from birch, because it is very gray.
Make sure that the floor will match the trim on your furniture, or else you will have serious regrets later.
On the other hand, if you have gray tile in other rooms of your house, the birch stain will tie the colors together, and make your house look bigger.

I think dark walnut is classic.
I am staining my floors and cant go too dark or too light. I was told to do dark walnut and classic grey mixed.
google it to see how it looks.
