My new sefardi neighbor said you can listen to a single instrument during sefirsh. Like a guitar by itself. Or a piano.

I never heard of this. Can someone clarify?

I'm sefardi, and I've never heard of that. I wonder who paskens that way.

I'm sefardi, we don't hold that way, maybe an individual Rav does

I was also wondering about sefardim and aveilus... I work at sefardi school and girl who lost her mother listens to music, in production, etc... (High schooler)

It's possible she was given different direction from her rav than an adult would get. She lost her mother at such a critical age and maybe her family rav told her certain things she can still do. It's hard enough to be orphaned as a teen...

I forgot where they said there were from. Not Tunisia, a place I had never heard of sounded a bit similar.

We follow the Yalkut Yosef. We have basically no heters for sefirah. So I have no idea what that person is talking about.

I’m Sephardic (Tunisian) and I never heard of this. I know some Yemenite Sephardim that told me they can listen as long as it’s not live.

Teenagers are given a lot of leeway when they go through something as traumatic as she did. Almost all aveilut restrictions are minhag and there is a lot of room for leniencies.
