For a mommy who wants to start college at age 50 (no high school diploma), now that her babies are all grown up and in various stages of their college education.
Step by step instructions please. Pretty please.
Tia!

Do they only help if you commit to getting a degree though their program? She might not want to go through them for her undergraduate degree. IyH.

I would start with my local community college. They give classes to prep for the hse at a very reasonable price. They can also advise you what to do. Good luck!

This is the number to SLE.
They're wonderful. They'll test you to see where you're at in each subject. They provide classes to get you up to par and will help you sign up to take the official tests. It's a free government funded program

No not at all. There is no commitment and they really don't push their program. They get specific public funding for the high school program

If you’re in Brooklyn, COJO of Flatbush offers HSE course.

I think you can probably get your GED and go straight for a BA via an easy program like TTI and then take that to do your Masters.
I'd call TTI first.

Just Google it. There's lots of help on generic websites. You can get studying guidelines and find out where to register to take the tests. I found it helpful to go through an actual school where I was able to take sample tests to see if and what I needed to study for. Although I'd be surprised if there weren't practice tests online

High school equivalency diploma is called a
GED.
I have one. I got it about 15 years ago, went to a non accredited high school.
I was just out of hs so hardly studied at all.
You will probably need to brush up on some things if you are so many years out of school.
I had a book to study from. I'm sure there are tons of resources online, too.
I took the GED in person. They are administered in places like community centers.
Could be more because of covid is online? Kind of doubt it.
If you tell us what city you are in, we can google for locations near you.
I wonder if different states have different requirements...

It's actually called TASC now and it cannot be taken online. But I'm sure there are study guides online
Because of Covid there are months long waits to take the test. It would be good to find out from someone who knows the process which center to sign up for. It could be a difference of months (disclaimer: things might have changed in the past few months as regulations ease up)
