I want to buy some fermented foods to try to add to my diet. Are the freshly pickled vegetables in grocery stores (KRM, Moishes etc) fermented or pickled?

Anything else I can buy in the grocery that isn't totally disgusting? From what I read most commercial stuff is pickled and not fermented (IE vinegar instead of fermenting).

If I'm not mistaken there are a few brands in the refrigerator section that are in salt water and not vinegar. Batampte is one of them.
I like to buy Bubbe's saurkraut in our health food store, that is also refrigerated and has salt and no vinegar. I don't think it is a heimish brand.

ETA: There is a also kosher brand of miso that is refrigerated. I can't remember the hechsher, is is one of the less common hechsherim, but is on the good list.

The company Fer-real makes real fermented foods. They’re in lots of stores.

And this stuff is decent tasting? I can't even tolerate the sourness of yogurt.

Fer-real's stuff is really good. Green beans are yummy, sauerkruat and borcht too. Pickles are sometimes a bit too soft but usually good.

This is very interesting. I prefer the taste of Bubbes and Batempte but didn't realize they were processed differently.

Kimchee is fermented but I don't know if there is any kosher kimchee commercially available
