Recently I posted a few of Rabbi Glatstein's shiurim here and there on various threads, and there seemed to be quite a few fans.

I used to commute to work and spent the time listeing to different shiurim on TorahAnytime. Once I started listening to Rabbi Glatstien, his shiurim became my go-to. I always learned new things.

There were some shiurim that were so memorable and fascinating to me that I would love to share with others. I'm wondering if there are other Imas who would be interested in an exchange of shiur recommendations, where we could give a quick synopsis of the shiur and maybe it can lead to further discussion.

But first, I want to explain what it is about Rabbi Glatstien's style that I appreciate. Firstly, he brings sources from all over. Ashkenaz, Sefardi, Chassidish, Litvish, mekubalim, Rishonim, Acharonim etc.

Whenever he brings an obscure or lesser known source, he gives a brief biography, or tells you where and when he lived. (Love this!)

He doesn't waste your time. He really packs it in. He doesnt use dramatics or hyperboles. He may say a quick story or illustration, to make a point but he doesn't say stories for the effect. He speaks clearly but at a quick pace. He has a dry sense of humor that comes out at times.

I especially like that he doesn't take anything for granted. When exploring a topic, he goes through the sources from the earliest mention of it and brings it through until today.
Also, he speaks on so many topics, he is not a "one trick horse. "

He is not afraid to tackle controversial subjects, but he does so with respect and sensitivity.

Perhaps most importantly, he doesnt say over all the same things you heard 100 times. He is always bringing in new perspectives and shedding light on a subject in a way that is fresh and new. He is not boring! (I am a bit ADHD and can't stand listening to boring speakers who repeat themselves over and over.)

Anyone interested?

You put it so well! I say all these things people are going to think I’m you! Would love to discuss he’s really one of the five people I follow, and the only one where I save his shiurim.

The problem becomes when I want to say something to a poster based on what he’s said in a shiur but I can’t find the shiur! He had a whole shiur on why it never mentions Rivka’s death and where Yaakov hid from Esav in the Torah, and why, and I loved it and I can NEVER FIND IT AGAIN.

I saved so many of his shiurim in my library that I loved.

Ok. This shiur was mindblowing and so satisfying for me personally, because it dealt with 2 questions I had for many years. (I heard it 2 years ago, but I thought about it this past Shabbos because it was in last week's parsha, Tazria-Metzora)

I remember hearing as a child that when you say lashon hara about someone, you get their aveiros and they get your mitzvos. Have you ever heard this? Is there any truth to this?

As I grew older, I didn't hear this anymore and basically chalked it up to one of those scare tactics you hear about in school. Honestly, it made no sense to me for many reasons. It doesn't seem fair or just.

Another random thing I always wondered about is the idea that, at the end of Shemona Esrei, before taking three steps back, you are supposed to say a certain passuk that starts and ends with the first and last letters of your name. Why? So they say that when you die and go up to shamayim, they will ask you your name. You will be so flustered that you will forget your own name. So if you say the passuk every day, it will remind you of your name.

I don't know about you, but that seems very strange to me. If I forget my name, why would I remember a passuk? I hear my name tens of times each day, and I only say the passuk when I daven (tops, three times a day). Also, why do we say the passuk at that particular place in the tefilla? Maybe I should walk around all day repeating the passuk to myself? And how would remembering the passuk help to remind me my name?

Finally, don't you think they have a system in shamayim in how to identify people? Am I really lost if I forget my name?

This shiur deals with the first question and touches on the second (and others). It's worth listening to!

Yes, he's an amazing speaker. He comes from an amazing lineage. His grandfather recently passed away over pesach.

https://jewishchronicle.timeso.....-106/

His family and mine were very close. There was hardly a week that went by in my childhood when we didn't see them.

His grandparents were the most humble people and even in their last years always took care of my mother after my own father passed away.

Haha, kindered spirit!

I haven't listened to that shiur you mentioned so I can't help you there. But whenever I'm looking for a specific shiur, I use the search bar in Torah Anytime, under the speaker's name. Put in any words you remember. Also, there are different spellings for the hebrew words at times so try different variations. Also, look under the relevant parsha.

Also, I subscribed to Rabbi Glatstien's whatsapp chat, where someone posts all of his new shiurim, plus all the past shiurim on that parsha. So it's very helpful.

Would love to hear of any specific shiurim that you loved.

So special! Well, the next time you talk to him, tell him he has some people who really appreciate his shiurim. I appreciate that he is always so well prepared and so inspiring.

I haven't listened to that many of his shiurim (although after the raving reviews I'm definitely going to be checking them out now!), but I remember being mind-blown a few years ago by his shiur on Binyamin being a werewolf... it was really fascinating, and so well-sourced!

OMG

First of all, are you me?! Because I am also such a huge fan for all the reasons you listed.

Secondly, I have always had the bolded question! And I remember listening to this shiur years ago and saying, "Thank You Hashem for finally showing me the answer to my question" and then I forgot it!

So thank you so much for uploading this! I think it's the best shiur.

And yes, obviously, I'm very interested in discussing his shiurim, though I don't listen every week. But if you recommend one, I will probably start with that!

Yes I felt the same.
So my secret for remembering great shiurim is by telling it over. At the time, I was teaching a parsha class so I was able to give over the shiur. Also, in order to teach it, I heard it several times, and took notes. So, I remember ot pretty well.

I once heard in the name of Rav Pam, "You heard a great vort or thought of an amazing chiddush? Tell it over. Ay, what if no one is interested? Tell it over anyway. For you. This will help you to remember , and you will be koneh this piece of Torah."

I follow this advice alot Very Happy (sorry for all of those around me who have to listen to me darshen )

I don't know if there is a way to access their shiurim over the phone. You can reach out to them here: info@torahanytime.com

(I do know that almost all of the Torah anytime shiurim have an option for video and an option for listening. Afaik all the lady speakers are only audio. Don't know if that helps you. )

Thank you.

There is a certain shiur that I heard about two years ago that I recently wanted to listen to again, but it seems to have been removed from Torahanytime. I clicked on this link hoping to see if it's there, but all the shiurim lead straight back to TorahAnytime. I'm a bit disappointed.
