We are in our 30s looking to relocate to monsey with elementary age children
I understand old monsey is now chassidish
We are looking for a nice litvish area with families of our age group
Husband has yeshiva background
I am BY background
Husband is working now but was in kodesh till now
So far I have heard of a few places which fit what we are looking for:
Chestnut Ridge-with 4 different areas there-each with different types of families
Havestraw
Airmont
Is there anything else? And can someone provide the differences/nuances of these places? Or offer a different suggestion? Also comparing housing prices- we are looking around the $500,000 mark in decent condition.
Also if anyone can tell me about Shuls/Rabbis in these areas would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance

Sounds more like Chestnut Ridge/Haverstraw then Airmont which is more chassidish. You can also look into New City but I know the taxes are high there.

There are houses for sale on Sutin in Chestnut Ridge.
Its best to work with a realtor.

Chestnut Ridge. I don’t live in monsey but I’m yeshivish and everyone I know who lives in monsey and is yeshivish lives in Chestnut Ridge. So it has to be the neighborhood.

Make sure you have school for the kids. I heard it’s very hard to get in.
