I'm not sure what I'm looking for here but I literally just noticed (what felt like a huge) centipede crawling along the side of my bed. I tried to chase it and kill it but couldn't. I just want to go to sleep without imagining it all over me while I do Surprised

I don't know where you are but in Israel right now it's millepede season. It's not uncommon to see them out and about and occasionally indoors, though I admit I've never had one in my bed nor would I ever want one there. Centipedes are even more stomach turning. I'm so sorry Sad

Thank you! I'm trying to convince myself that I'll be okay cause this is just an exaggerated emotional response... It's not working so well though.

I'm sorry. I hate those creepy bugs and whenever I see one I'm always worried it's going to be on me....I get really anxious and bothered with it. I try to talk myself down, remind myself that I'm so much bigger and it's not harmful, just irritating, but I get that out can be really difficult!!

Not much to offer except those things were always super icky and scary to me when I lived in the states (I mean that many crazy legs is just not normal 😂 ). Now in Israel I freak out about giant cockroaches and scissor bugs. Grateful I haven’t yet encountered a scorpion.

They're weird looking, and you probably wouldn't want to put them on your wall for decoration, but they won't hurt you. They may bite you if you pick them up and mess around with them, but why would you do that? They are actually beneficial because they eat other fun wildlife like bedbugs, roaches, moths, flies, silverfish, and termites.

Change your linen. Try to find the source of the moisture. Good luck!

Was it a house centipede (thousand legger) or was it a woodland centipede that wandered inside looking for relief from the sun?

House centipedes, while creepy as all heck, are perfectly harmless and beneficial.

Woodland centipedes will bite/sting if they feel threatened, but are not aggressive. They need to be escorted back outside if you catch them.

Millipedes are completely harmless, and should also go back outside. Same with pill bugs.

B'H, no scorpions (so far), but every now and then I get one of those HUGE Egyptian cockroaches, that weigh as much as a couple of 10 shekel coins. Fortunately they are slow, and I can easily trap them and toss them out on the lawn. They're just looking for love in all the wrong places. LOL

I think what attracts them most is water/moisture. They tend to come in just when the weather gets hot. Both the centipedes and the big black cockroaches (I always thought they are called "Turkish", not "Egyptian" but there you go, Middle Eastern anyway) which come into our house, restrict themselves mostly to the bathroom and toilet. Had a big centipede in the air conditioner once, probably looking for condensation water. When I switched the a/c on, it flew out, severed into front and back half...
