If you are ok with fantasy, my ten year old loves the "wings of fire" series. We were also recommended "the secret series" and "the story thieves" but he hasn't read those yet.

The Mysterious Benedict Society.
Avnet Gold’s Historical Fiction
Would he be interested in the heavy multi-perspective novels by Yair Weinstock?

Was asking one of my sons what he liked to read when he was younger. He mentioned the Books by SJ revich if you can find them. Tales from the middle east is a series of I think 4-5 books. I think the titles, were, the Poet & the Thief. Ibrahim the Magician. The Camel Boy... among others.

Rebbe Mendel Books by N. Sternfeld.
Eli Shechkters books. Pyramid Base is his best IMHO.

Meyer - The Exiles of Crocodile Island
Kranzler - The Broken Bracelet
Zakon - Jerusalem Diaries
Zakon - The Cohens of Tzfat
Lazewnik - The Little Black Box thrillogy
Short mystery series by Henye Meyer, Rivkah Small, Miriam Zakon

Seconded. I loved these books. I bought some for a 10-year-old boy and he loved them too.

Lol I hate them. They're so disturbing to me. My siblings love them though.

Another anti-hero book I liked at this age is Capt. Hook by J.V. Hart.

There's a bit of mild romance in that one and in the later Artemis Fowl books if that matters.
