If your kids have a hoverboard can you answer the following questions.
1. How old are they?
2. What community do you belong to?
3. Do all of their friends have one or are they stand outs?
4. Do they wear a helmet? Anything else protective?
5. Do they use it indoors or only outside?
6. Do the neighbors use it?
7. How long did it take them to learn how to use it?
8. How much did you spend on it?
9. Which do you have? Links.
10. Are you happy with the purchase?
11. Would you buy it again?
12. Anything else?

My kids collected money one year for a tzedakah organization that gave it out if you collected x amount.
My then 11/15 year olds were able to ride it (always with a helmet)
Last year we bought them a Segway. The Segway self balances much better my 3.5 year old manages to ride it also. She cannot ride the hoverboard.

No and I would never buy one for them. They are so dangerous and kids use them without helmets so many times. Buy anything else electric scooter bike etc but pls not the hoverboard. One of the neighborhood kids lost control and slammed into a bench and blacked out was petrifying. Also It’s very easy to lose control and land in the street without watching for cars

3. Do all of their friends have one or are they stand outs? They're the only ones

4. Do they wear a helmet? Anything else protective? Not always

5. Do they use it indoors or only outside? Outdoors - only around the house or at the park

6. Do the neighbors use it? NO - nobody besides my kids are allowed to use it

7. How long did it take them to learn how to use it? About 5 minutes

8. How much did you spend on it? Received as a gift

I personally wouldn't have bought it for them, but my in laws got it so it is what it is.

my kids 11 and 8 have one; its a bit of a big sturdy one. I paid closer to $200. They love it. They use it in the house and in the country. I dont like when they use it on the sidewalk. My 6 year old just learned how to ride it only in the house. We are chassidish. In our community hoveboards are out. Everyone is zipping around on segways and electric scooters.

Please please. Don’t get it if your child will be crossing the street with it.
I almost ran over a 15 yr old kid that lost his balance and switched directions.....while he was talking on the phone.
I was shaking and couldnt talk for 2 days.

You title popped out because I’m still triggered when seeing the word hoverboard.

It's crazy that hoverboards, electric scooters, and Segways have become standard things for kids to get. It's so expensive yet the streets are full of them.

Nope.
if my kids are playing outdoors, I want them benefitting from traditional outdoor exercise. I also hear the safety concern, but I can get past how sedentary these things enable kids to be

Riding a hoverboard is actually more exercise than it looks.

My 13 year old DD in Lakewood has a hoverboard.

She uses it indoor and out. Outdoors, with a helmet. There are other kids in the neighborhood who have it but not necessarily her close friends.

She received it as a gift (not from us.)

Never! Not too long ago a house burned down in my area from a hoverboard that was charging. Besides, they're so dangerous! Plenty of my neighbors have them and it's the scariest thing to watch how they ride it.

My 13 year old broke his upper arm when he fell backwards off a friend’s hover board. It was excruciatingly painful. It couldn’t be casted. It was awful.
