My 5 ur old refuses to take the training wheels off his bike. I'm starting to get worried. What is a normal age for a kid to learn this skill?

My son learned when he was 7. He also wasn't ready and it took him time to feel confident. I wouldn't push him to do something he isn't comfortable to do yet.

DD took her wheels off at 7.

Core strength and right/left integration can vary widely with kids in this age group. Don't push him until he feels confident. As long as he's outside getting lots of exercise, it doesn't matter if he's using trainers or not.

You can raise the training wheels a little bit, so that they are slightly off the ground. They'll hold him up when he's wobbly, but he can start to get used to not depending on them all the time. Don't do this without talking to him about it first, and be prepared to put them all the way down if it's not working. He'll get there eventually.

My son is 6.5 and very very hesitant about riding a two wheeler (he wants to do it because of peer pressure. I'm hoping he'll get there this summer

My kid’s 3-4 yr old Morah teaches the kids to ride without trading wheels.
She puts them on bikes without the training wheels and has them just walk on it. Eventually out foot on one wheel and then both feet.
Very little parent/teacher effort. So far 5 of my kids learned that method at that age.
At that age they don’t have strength to go far. But go round and round the yard.

You can also buy balance bikes made to teach the skill.

Any age is fine, my son learned at 11. He wasn't interested in riding before then. Took him 2 minutes

My 7 year old just taught herself. Many kids aren't ready until 6/7.
